LA, CA Need FOSTERS/Forever home ASAP- food etc included.

Please meet Joanie: (she is the black dog)

Rockstar Rescue urgently needs a foster or adoptive home for this gorgeous and very sweet girl who was rescued from a palmdale hoarders property with over 100 other dogs. Her "rescuers" then dumped her like trash at the shelter and left her to die.Thankfully, the shelter was awesome in working with rescue and networking them and she got out!
Rockstar Rescue took her in but she now sits in boarding/training waiting for someone to take her in and give her some love. She is ready to go!! She is kind, approachable and relaxed.
All food and necessities will be covered. Please let us know if you have room for a sweet girl to start life over......please show her that there is still good in this world waiting for her!
She is very sweet and gentle. She is very calm, not active and seems to do well with both people and other dogs. She is great on a lead. and looks so content when we just sit quietly with her and pet her.
Please help network if you can!

Because she came from a hoarding situation, she will need somebody who is gentle and patient and kind to spend her life with. Someone willing to put the time in to let her come out of her shell and learn how to trust. and someone who has a good deal of time to spend with her. If you know anyone who fits the bill, please contact us!

We have 2 dogs rescued from the Palmdale Hoarder, and although they have both taken great strides, the other (Holly) still needs a little work and socialization so she will remain at Top Dog Resort a bit longer while we work with her everyday.

I know times are hard right now but if anyone could help by donating towards their care, we would be so grateful. Top Dog Resort has currently 7 of the hoarder's dogs in boarding that were left behind and is fully supporting them until he can find a qualified 501c3 to step up. Milan has been incredible throughout all of this, having boarded most of the dogs in the interim without being paid.He works non-stop to help those of us in rescue and keeping the dogs safe, even when it means a loss for his business. He is relentless in the effort he puts forth to keep our dogs alive. He keeps the rate so low for rescue and is doing wonderful wonderful things!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help him if you can so he can continue to help us, and most importantly, the dogs.

Donations can be made directly to Milan at Top Dog Resort (just be sure to not who it's for) or to rockstarrescue@gmail.com and we will forward to Top Dog..
Literally, anything you can do WILL help.
Thank you!!
Help Cody Get Home!
by Kendra
Apr 9, 2010
Listen up, Angels!
Several months ago, we received a call from a distraught couple who were in the midst of foreclosure, unemployed and losing their homes. The woman was disabled, and her husband-laid off. They had 2 dogs, one of which was a loyal service dog, Cody, who had been with them since he was a pup and spent an entire year tending to the womans needs as she was in bed and a wheelchair recovering from a massive back surgery which left her permanently disabled. and the other, a beautiful Golden named Cheyenne. They were desperate to keep their dogs safe and out of the shelter as they frantically tried to find suitable living accomodations for themselves and as the husband looked for new employment.
We agreed to take the dogs and help keep them safe.We traveled all the way to the East coast and drove them back to California with us! We placed Cheyenne into a wonderful family with another Golden and teenager. Cody is still with us.
Anyway, The family has found a new house, the husband is now re-employed and we would LOVE to re-unite this wonderful family with the dog who saw them through the hardest time of their lives.
Being that they are still getting settled, they are low on funds and we would LOVE to fly Cody back to his rightful family. The cost of this would be 309.00 dollars on Continental airlines plus .38 cents per pund (he's 56 lbs plus crate). and a health certificate (around 50.00 bucks at the vet)..so were looking at around 400.00 total.
Would any of you angels like to contribute or donate to get Cody home to his mommy?? He misses her so much!
If you'd like to help, you can visit www.meettherossis.com and then click on Rockstar Rescue. Hit the donate button and mark that your donation is for Cody's flight home. If you cant help financially, can you please re-post?
Thanks!

ROCKSTAR RESCUE NEEDS HELP/FOSTERS/NETWORKING!
by Webmaster
Jan 6, 2010

Hey all, here's an update on the animals. Thank you all so much for your help, concern, and networking! I have attached photos along with some short bios so you can better understand the needs of each animal.

Animal Descriptions: NONE of these animals are crated. They are allowed free roam of the house and are INDOOR animals. We would like them to be placed into permanent or foster homes that would allow same. We WILL require a home check into any placement , foster or rescue. We simply would like to see where they will be going. This is not meant to offend, or sound unappreciative but our main concern is, and always will be, for the animals first. Anyone who would not let us see where they are going is not a place we would like them to be. Even though we are frantically searching, we must still bear in mind that it ultimately must be the best possible scenario for the animal! We need to find a place for them all to go before JAN 20th. The mama cat has been spoken for, however there are still some other babies who need somewhere to go! Most importantly, Johnny Depp the pittbull puppy. Please see thier stories below. My original plea is also at the bottom.

Bear
Bear is a male 5 month puppy and we believe he’s a Min Pin or Doberman mix.
This little cutie was dumped at the shelter covered in fleas and ticks.
It’s hard to believe that this sweetie was about to be euthanized, but
he has now been fully treated,
is in perfect health and is now ready for a wonderful loving home! He
is not fully housebroken yet
but we are working on it! Bear has been crate trained  overnights ONLY and does not mess nor cry in his crate. Bear likes to spend time outside in the yard playing, but he is happiest when he is indoors with the family. He can be a bit shy upon first meeting you, but when he does come out of his shell, he loves to be petted and his favorite thing of all is BELLYRUBS! He is a super submissive dog. Bear has not been walked on a leash too much but he does seem to enjoy it. He is just learning his basic commands but he is a quick study. he learned sit ,down and roll over in about 5 minutes. Were still working on "stay".He is also also very smart and likes to wait til he sees a treat in your hand to actually do it.  :) Bear is great in the car, he likes to go for rides and will lie quietly in the back. He doesnt bark a lot, only to warn you when people are at your door. Bear is great with other dogs and with cats and kids, but because he is so young and excited, can be a little too rough for small animals. I would absolutely recommend him in a house with an equal or large breed dog , as he really enjoys other animals and likes to play. At this time we are seeking a foster placement for a period of 1 month, up to 2. or a qualified 501 c3.

Heidi & Tom
Heidi and Tom are 16 week old sister and brother who were dumped at
the shelter as strays when their
mommy never came back to feed them. They were also covered in fleas
and ticks, and have since been treated
and are ready to go home. They are fun, playful, cuddly, super
affectionate and looking for great homes where they can grow and be
loved! Of all the cats we have ever rescued these are our favorites. They were bottle fed and are super attentive  and very bonded to humans and eachother.these cats want to be on you all the time.Tom likes to sit on your shoulder as your on the computer or doing your housework ( he thinks hes a bird), theyll help you cook ( or eat) dinner, and he loves to nurse on your pants shirt or any other piece of your clothing he can get his paws on.. and heidi has actually learned the command "gimme kisses" and will happily oblige. they are VERY cuddly and wonderful cats, and must be adopted together as they are completely bonded. They love to play with cat toys, but most of all they just want to be touched ..These cats are looking for an owner (they prefer females) who spends a lot of time at home, and where there are no small children to accidently hurt them as they tend to lie under you and hide in strange places.Heidi and Tom would also prefer to go to a home locally so that they may still visit their foster mom from time to time. We are primarily looking for a permanent adoptive home , or a foster of 1 month. It is VERY important to us that Rockstar Rescue oversee their adoption, as they mean a LOT to us. we would be ok with a qualified 501 c3 taking them, with the term that we would need to homecheck and approve their adoptive home. I know it seems like a lot to ask, but there is no detail to small for us when it comes to these very special cats.

Agro, Toby, Storm & Mini-Miley (Mimi)
Agro , Toby and Mini-Miley came to us as a last minute pull from a huge euthanasia date at the shelter. They all came together and are bonded so it is important to us that they be placed at least in 2's. The shelter said they were semi-feral, but they dont seem that way to me.They were all a bit scared and shy when we got them, and they all had URI's which they have been treated for. But they certainly dont act feral. Agro - the tux kitty- was recently featured on Jay Leno. He loves cat toys and is the most outgoing of the bunch. He takes a day or two to make his approach but once he does, he wont leave your side! He absolutely LOVES dogs and will climb on their backs and start making muffins. Toby, the silver tabby, is a bit more shy and independant, often choosing to sleep by herself on the couch. But she LOVES being held and will purr loudly anytime you get within inches of her. Mini-Miley- the tabby girl,  tends to get a bit of a freeze reaction and cower a bit when you try to pet her, but once you do she purrs very loudly. she has just recently started approaching us for attention, and definitely prefers to cuddle with another cat most times. She is very fond of Agro. Storm is most definitely feral. She will hiss and scrath if you try to touch her. Howvere through constant work, I have finally gotten her to tolerate me picking her up and touching her without getting my ass kicked lol. She is by far the tiniest of them, and absolutely gorgeous russian blue. She does love the other cats tho, and choses to follow them, lie with them and stick with them for the most part. And she does take wet food as a bribe for attention. We are seeking adoptive or foster homes, or a qualified 501c3.

Dexter
Dexter is a 6 months old grey & white male kitten looking for a permanent home. He
is affectionate and playful. He also came from a major euthanasia day at the shelter where we were told another 501c3 was taking him but didnt so hes been here ever since...He is sweet as pie, gorgeous and and all around GREAT PHENOMENAL cat. He would do well in almost any loving situation. He gets along great with cats, dogs, kids, people. He is VERY vocal, talks al the time but mostly will yell at you when he's hungry. he loves everyone, everything , and is scared of nothing. From the first day we got him, he fit right in- neverhisssed at any of the cats, dogs, or people and in fact, looked quite sad and confused when they did it to him. Im not kidding when i say he loves EVERYONE. Again, we are seeking a permanent adoptive home, a foster of one month, or a qualified 501c3 to oversee his proper placement into an adoptive home.

 Charlie:
Charlie is  a mini poodle who is 10+ years. Just to paint the picture a bit clearer than I did in my plea, I have strong reservations about placing him in a temporary home, because of his age and the stress it might take on him.I am trying my best to place him specifically in a permanent adoptive home, and networking him like crazy. This poor little guy had his previous owner die, where in turn ended up redlisted at the shelter. He came to us around 6 months ago,and I didn't put a ton of effort into placing him only because he has some cancerous growths on his skin and I figured he could spend the rest of his time here comfortably.
This work/leaving town thing has really thrown me for a loop because It came out of the blue, and I refuse to board him- he is a house dog, and would not do well being crated or kenneled. he desires constant companionship. he was obviously very loved, and remains so.. And I cant bear the thought of bouncing him around anymore.I would use foster only as a last option for him in a home where he is not crated, and with someone who is around the house a lot.

Im currently putting the pressure on strong through networking to find him a good solid forever home before I am gone and if I simply cannot then, I may even try to hire someone to stay at my house with him- I just want the best possible scenario for him, and as with each of my animals, trying to do the right thing for each of their specific needs and circumstance. Unlike some of the babies, he isnt super resilient and the change does stress him out.
If you know of a potential foster, I would certainly consider it with the understanding that I (of course) would do a home check.
What Im really hoping for is an elderly lady who wants a companion

And last but not least is Johnny Depp. He is probably the one that we need the MOST emergency help with. Because of his specific needs, and because of our time limitations , and because we cannot let him wind up in the wrong hands, he has been the hardest for us. He needs a lot of networking, and an experienced pit bull adopter, foster or rescue. He is certainly deserving!
 Johnny
the 6 month old bluenose pit puppy was rescued Halloween 2009. He
was the lone survivor of a BIG pitbull euthanasia. @ East Valley
Shelter on 10/31/09. They were going to kill him too until a bunch of rescue groups worked together, got donations, and got him out and into his current foster home! Johnny had a severe URI and nasty demodectic mange when we got him. We have since spent over 2k on his medical care.He has been treated and fully recovered- In fact, He is gorgeous! People stop to tell him so all the time, and he happy thanks them with big wet sloppy kisses. However, Demodectic mange is NOT CONTAGIOUS, however, it can come back so he will need further skin scrapings in the future, and a close eye on his skin. Johnny had severe URI and demodex mange, he spent a long time in isolation , therefore, he is still consistently very very excited when he gets attention. Although Johnny can be exciteable, he is also very quiet and calm when he is in his crate or in his dog run. He is perfectly behaved and he doesnt want to upset your neighbors by barking! ;) is crate trained, but he is still working on his housebreaking. He has not had an accident yet, but he is also very closely monitored when in the house.Johnny LOVES walks, however he's not so good on the leash- He is strong, and he does pull. (although he's trying really hard).. He has not been formally introduced to other animals, however when he does see them on his walks, he immediately strikes play pose, tail wagging. In fact Johnny is such a happy boy, and a wiggle butt, that he has managed to create a sore little "happy tail" for himself, from banging it so hard on EVERYTHING.  Johnny has never shown any signs of aggression however because of his sheer strength and size, he is not recommended for a home with small animals or children.  He will need an owner that is patient, understands what he has been through  and understands the pit bull breed.Johnny will also need some training but he is a quick learner and eager to please. We are primarily seeking a qualified 501 c3 for this little lad, preferably a pit bull rescue, or an experienced pitbull adoptee ,with people who understand him and are patient with him. He really is a good boy and he really wants to be loved and give love, he just needs someone to show him how to do it more politely ;) he is just a big baby who wants to be a lap dog.
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps.

Help!! MADDOX has until Fri Dec 18th
Dec 17, 2009
The saying goes that the eyes are the windows of the soul. Please look at the soul of this beautiful puppy. He deserves a loving life - not as a guard dog. Please share this with others. Or can you help to save him. He has until FRIDAY, DEC. 18. Today is the 16th. Please help save him.

Here is the plea. There is some confusion about this -- the dog was NOT an owner surrender. It was a man and his sons who were thinking of adopting Maddox -- and wanted to stick him in their backyard. They wanted a "guard dog."

THEY WANTED TO MAKE ME A GUARD DOG

THEY WANTED TO THROW ME IN A BACKYARD, STARVE ME, MAKE ME ANGRY, MAKE ME BARK

I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT. I LOVE PEOPLE. PLEASE HELP ME.

I was outraged yesterday when I went to get Maddox (A1078300, just a puppy at 6 months old, red-listed on 12/11 -- so has until this Friday) out of his cage. This man and his two sons were interested in this innocent -- only to turn him into a backyard guard dog. Yes, that look on Maddox's face is one of worry. Because these people can come back at any time -- especially during the "sale" days coming up -- and get him for half price. They can put him into a backyard, let the kids play with him for a couple of months. and then ignore him for two years, five years -- bringing him back to the shelter when he gets too old to do his job, too nasty to adopt out. We see it all the time. Earlier impound numbers, returned, unsocialized, still not fixed, worn out, beaten down. That's shelter reality.

Puppies don't come sweeter than Maddox. He is completely submissive, undeniably loving (it was hard to get him to stand still for photos -- tail continually wagging, body twisting and wriggling and all over the place), and unprepared for a world that won't treat him with decency. Please protect him from that fate that awaits. Call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119.
And kindly let me know -- I'm very concerned. Andrea ivegonetothedogs@gmail.com (323) 363-4909
PLEASE SAVE WOODY!!!

Dec 16, 2009

Please call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119 to save this teensy weensy sweetsie.

Little Woody (A1079583, red-listed on 12/6  --  so out of time already!!!) came in as a far-too-skinny can-you-believe-it-stray.  Shelter food has obviously agreed with him  --  even with his bad teeth --  and today he weighed in at a full three pounds.  Woody's won the hearts of medical staff at South L.A. who have allowed him to pass his red alert hour.  But, they can't hold on to him much longer.  Wouldn't you like to be the one holding him next?    Please call the South L.A. shelter at (213)  485-0117  or  -0119 to save this teensy weensy sweetsie.
